Fairview House

Wonderful weekend in a beautiful house. 12 Adults and two kids with lots of space for all. The host, Henry, was brilliantly communicative. He responded quickly to any questions we had prior to our arrival. The house fitted our needs perfectly. We were celebrating two big birthdays and it was the perfect place to gather with family of all ages. There was a very generous welcome basket when we arrived - full of biscuits, jam, tea and coffee, bread and milk, a bottle of wine and some beers! The kitchen had all we needed and we made the most of it! The outside space was lovely too, with a hot tub and lots of nice garden furniture and barbecue. The weather wasn't great so we couldn't get out as much as we would've liked. Instead we made the most of the cozy, atmospheric log burner in the living area, and amused ourselves with games etc.Thank you Henry for everything.....hopefully we will get to come back in the warmer months and spend some time outdoors but for now we are happy with the lovely family memories made this time. We rented Fairview as a base while we visited England for a week, so we could host family and friends at Christmas for a change. The whole experience was a dream. The organization and communication before we arrived was great, making our preparations very smooth. Our arrival launched us straight into the Christmas spirit, with beautiful decorations, twinkling trees and tasty treats waiting for us! The whole house was tastefully decorated and all the bedrooms felt spacious and luxurious. The well equipped kitchen and huge dining table were perfect for serving Christmas dinner. We had many relaxing evenings enjoying the hot tub, while the teenagers loved the air hockey, pool, table tennis and tv up on the top floor. The newly converted barn was fantastic - beautifully designed, cosy, and self-contained so one family could be based over there, but just a stone's throw away from the main house. The village of Tideswell was close by- a short walk to several pubs, a restaurant, a Co-op and a delightful second-hand bookshop. Buxton was a 20- minute drive, to reach bigger supermarkets, more restaurants and a lovely pottery painting experience. Plenty of amazing walks in the area too, of course. Henry was a great host - quick to answer any questions and provide help when needed. Fairview has provided the backdrop for some really special memories this Christmas, and we would highly recommend it!

Fairview House is an exceptional choice for those who are looking for a large, tasteful and very comfortable space in which to celebrate, unwind and explore the Peak District. The hosts have thought of everything you need for a great stay - superb amenities such as the bbq and hot tub, comfy beds and quality bedding and a very well equipped modern kitchen where we were able to cook easily for 14. We had great weather so we made a lot of use of the outside space but I can imagine staying here in winter would be so cosy and inviting. Location wise, we were able to walk into town for pints (Horse and Jockey - very friendly and worth a visit), a meal (Merchant’s Yard - excellent) and take away (Elliott’s’ - the best!). We also started our longer hikes from the house as our base. Within 15 minute’s drive we were in Bakewell or the larger shops at Chapel. Chatsworth, Matlock, Monsal and Hope Valley were all easy trips too. As you may predict, I highly recommend Fairview House. We have had a very memorable and relaxing time there and will be sure to return with friends and family. Enjoy your stay!
